Baleno
Beginning in the 1970’s Baleno, part of the Sioen group manufactures and designs clothing and accessories for a wide range of country disciplines including fishing, farming, shooting, hiking and more.
Started by Mrs Jacqueline Sioen using coated textiles produced by her husband. The first products were protective rainwear for fisher people and farmers who were in need of durable waterproof clothing.
The first garments were not very fashionable, but not one to stop Baleno soon grew innovating and innovating becoming part of the Sioen group to where they are today. Sioen’s Flexothane fabric is a great example of this innovation, and to this day, many fruit growers in Belgium still wear Flexothane.
The name Baleno comes from ‘Baleine’ the French word for Whale. It still forms part of the logo to this day and its connection to the sea appealed to the fisher people that brought the original garments back in the 1970’s.
Today Baleno, still a part of the Sioen group, produces a wide range of garments. New to Ian Coley we currently stock the Baleno Watson and Southwell fleeces. Featuring an integrated drop liner these warm fleeces are wind and water proof and have already proven a smashing success.
