Whether your working outdoors in tough conditions or going for a lovely stroll through the countryside with your pooch followed by a well earned drink at the local pub.  No matter the Ridgeline fleece, it will be designed to be used as part of a layering system.  Depending on the fleece this layer could be a lower, mid or outer and can be cross function.  The ballistic fleece for example works well as a light outer layer in warmer months or a warming mid layer in the colder months.

What to look for when purchasing Ridgeline Fleece

• Look for the GSM rating.  The GSM rating stands for grams per square metre and is used to categorise the weight of a fleece.  Basically, the higher the gsm, the warmer, more insulating and heavier the fleece will be.  As a guide, 100-200gsm fleece is considered lightweight, suitable as an outer layer in mild weather and a mid layer in cooler weather.  200-300gsm is more mid weight.  It is more insulating and works well as an outer layer in cold months or mid layer in really cold conditions.  300gsm plus is considered a heavy fleece.  Accordingly you can expect to be very warm and insulated, even in very cold weather.
• Soft Shell.  Some Ridgeline Fleece has a construction including some soft shell, typically on the chest area.  This is a reinforcing layer on top of the fleece adding additional durability and a touch more weather resistance.  While not considered water proof, it does provide additional protection against wind and rain and is a great choice for outdoor working with a chance of mild showers.
• Zip Length.  Ridgeline offer a range of zip lengths including quarter and full length zips.  This allows for ventilation, especially when used as a layering piece.
