The lenses are seven layered polarised TAC (Tri Acetate Cellulose).  Made up of seven layers with each layer having its specific job.  The first is the polarised layer.  A polarised lens has a special chemical added to it that helps to filter light.  The main job of this layer is to reduce glare, however tests have shown that it can also make colours appear more vibrant and reduce eye strain.

The second and third layers of the Edwards Eyewear Hiroki 2 Polarised Aviators are reinforcing layers that help durability.  Specifically designed to resist harsh environments.  The fourth and fifth layers are UV absorbing layers, designed to absorb over 99% of harmful Ultra Violet Light.  The final two layers are shock proof layers that increase impact and scratch resistance.
