Such as you might find on a shooting range in winter or in the Great British countryside on a pleasant walk with your faithful canine companion.  Normally made from synthetic fibre’s these are generally tight fitting and keep a moderate amount of warmth close whilst still being comfortable close to the skin and wicking away moisture.

What to look for in a base layer?

A base layer for mens wear is designed to be the closest layer of clothing to the body so when purchasing, look for something that will provide a relatively tight fit whilst still allowing the freedom of movement essential for country sports.  Ideally a good base layer should be tight fitting, wick’s away any unwanted moisture and keeps the heat in.  It should also be comfortable to wear and ideally smooth and non chafing.

When out on the range consider one of the manufacturer branded options, whilst out in the field something more neutral such as the Seeland Hawker Set.
