Each Pilla lens is named using a number and letter code. The number indicates the percentage of light transmission, a lower number means less light passes through (ideal for bright sun), while a higher number allows more light in for cloudy or low-light conditions. As we age, we often need more light to maintain sharp contrast, so it’s common to move up the scale over time in the various ranges for example from 15 to a 19 or a 56 to a 60.

The letters refer to the visual enhancement technologies built into the lens:

• C – Chromashift for targeted colour filtration
• ED – Enhanced Definition for crisp image detail
• HC – High Contrast to make targets stand out
• MX – Max technology for versatile, all-round enhancement
• N – Neutraliser to mute dominant greens
• P – Progressive filtration from top to bottom
• DF – Depth Filter to enhance perceived target separation
• M – Mirrored coating to reduce overhead glare
• D – Dark base to limit glare and add definition
• K – Killer contrast for bold separation between foreground and background

Choosing the Right Lens for You

Pilla’s core range of around 30 lenses is available for both the Outlaw X6 and Outlaw X7 platforms. Some specialist lenses, like the RG series, are exclusive to one platform.
